Still catching up

Fun Flower

Western Fence

These 2 were left out of the update....they were fun to do.

  1. I know you want critique of the most recent four paintings (the post above this one and this post), so here it goes for these two paintings...

Fun flower - Interesting pop-ish composition. It's a little mainstream... I feel like I could probably go to Target and find a poster print that looks like it to hang in my kitchen. It's definitely a departure from your usual styles, and while exploration is good, I feel like this piece is kind of mundane compared to what I know you're capable of.

Western Fence - This piece is my least favorite of the recent four pieces. Usually landscapes are your strength and you're getting really good about putting depth into your landscape works. This one lacks it. The fence made of wagon wheels is a cool concept that I feel that you could explore in a closer up almost abstract piece, but it comes across flat in this piece. The background beyond the fence lacks the color variation that you need to show depth. Adding a small scrub line or something else small in the background, or a road heading toward the vanishing point would help.
